Steven Lohlein, Narrative & Script Development
Steven Lohlein is a seasoned arts professional and corporate leader whose career spans more than four decades across music, education, and international business. A singer, accomplished soloist and church cantor, he enjoyed a 40+ year professional performance career that brought him to stages in the United States and Europe.
Steven began his artistic journey in 1975 while earning his BFA from the State University College at Potsdam, where he studied voice and opera at the Crane School of Music. His operatic repertoire includes such notable roles as Schaunard (La Bohème) with Opéra de Montréal, Dr. Falke (Die Fledermaus), Scarpia (Tosca), and Valentin (Faust) with Island Lyric Opera. He also appeared in multiple seasons with Berkshire Choral International (BCI).
Beyond the stage, Steven has held significant leadership positions in the professional choral and operatic community. He served as Executive Director of "Voices of Ascension" at the Church of the Ascension in Manhattan and as Director of the "Dennis Keene Choral Festival" in Kent, Connecticut. He has also served as Director of Programming and Master of Ceremonies for Opera Night Long Island, where he had been involved in programming, artist coordination, audience engagement, and presenting live opera to Long Island audiences.
In parallel with his artistic career, Steven built a successful corporate career in the airline industry, serving in senior administrative and coordination roles, including alliance coordination for two major international airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Northwest. In this capacity, he worked extensively across the U.S., Europe, Mid-east, and India collaborating with global partners and managing complex operational relationships—experience that further developed his leadership, organizational, and mentorship skills.
Now retired from the corporate world and professional singing, Steven continues to devote his time to mentoring young singers, teaching, and supporting musical and cultural nonprofit organizations. He is a guest co-host of the "Long Island Breakfast Club" podcast, where he engages with artists, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and other guests from across Long Island. He is also a proud volunteer with the Northport Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk, Inc. (Hospice House, East Northport).
